Yellowface by R.F.Kuang || Book Review
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Plot:June’s life as an author isn't exactly good but when she gets her hands on a manuscript by Athena Liu her late best friend she thinks her life will turn out better but is it rlly better…
I rlly like the plot even more so how the plot is carried out till the end. We get to see a lot of publishing insiders: reviews, pressmeets etcc… super interesting.
The book also deals with racism, envy, cultural appropriation, plagiarism, and representation in a well written manner. It doesn’t quickly go into a stand point and raises a lot of our own opinions and question
June and Athena are both characters that had me in awe. Like they are morally gray characters just made better and realistic. The character drives the story which is not something you see in a lot of books.
I just rlly like the whole ‘social media narrative impacts daily life’. Ppl do constantly compare themselves to the internets, hate comments and tweets that can cause massive drama over someone's images. Reddit threads
R.F Kuang is an amazing writer and this is no less than that.
I had a lot of ppl complain about the ending. I just don’t get it I think it was pretty good though a sequel about the whole scandal would be appreciate *wink* *wink*
Also cover design is good
Thought-provoking literary crack
